In the ultrasonic welding process, high-frequency vibrations are applied directly to pieces that are being held together under intense pressure. This causes the pieces to fuse together, creating a weld that’s in one solid state. This process is most commonly used for plastics and bonding two materials that differ greatly, and it removes the need for connective materials like nails, bolts and adhesives.
